Treats Full Of Vitamin B12 For Your Dog

When caring for a dog, you need to make sure that they’re eating right. Aside from eating the right amount for their size and activities, you also have to make sure your dog is eating nutritious food that promotes good overall health.

This doesn’t just mean with their regular meals either. As a dog owner, you should give your dog nutritious treats to really ensure they are in tip-top shape.

And one of the most important nutrients for your dogs is vitamin B, specifically, vitamin B12. There are tons of B vitamins out there and all of them offer great benefits for dogs.

In this article, we take a look at why your dog needs vitamin B12 as well as a couple of natural treats you can feed them that is packed with it!

What Are B Vitamins?

The B vitamins group is very important for dogs as it helps their body perform its natural and normal processes. There are many different types of B-vitamins, and each of them has its own unique set of benefits for dogs.

In the B-group, some of the most important vitamins are vitamins B12 and B6. These vitamins aid with enzyme function and glucose regeneration. So, when looking for dog food and dog treats to promote good health, make sure that the food contains natural B-vitamins.

Natural Dog Treats With Vitamin B12

Vitamin B-12 is present in a lot of foods out there. Even without supplements, dogs and humans can get sufficient amounts of vitamin B12 through their normal diet. However, when creating a diet plan for your dog, you always have to make sure that the food contains all the nutrients needed for good health.

In this section, we’ll take a look at a couple of different natural dog treats that are packed with vitamin B-12 and can promote good overall health in your dog!

Animal Liver & Kidneys

The livers and kidneys of different animals are largely considered scraps for humans, especially in the West. While there are tons of recipes for humans out there that employ different livers and kidneys, many humans choose to stay away from them, especially if they’ve never eaten them before. This is kind of sad, considering animal kidneys and liver offer tons of health benefits and nutrients.

Luckily, dogs aren’t as picky as humans. You can feed your dog a variety of different livers and kidneys as treats, as these are packed with vitamin B12 and are also very tasty for dogs. A common question people ask when they learn about this is: can dogs eat beef liver?

The answer is a resounding yes! In fact, dogs can eat beef, lamb, and even chicken livers as a treat. To prepare them properly, all you really have to do is cut them up into treat-sized bits and boil them. From there, you can freeze the treats and they will last you a very long time.

Beef

Along with the beef liver and kidney, dogs can also eat plain old beef and reap a bunch of health benefits. Now, we listed this as a treat because beef can be expensive, especially depending on your location and it would be costly to include beef in all of your dog’s meals. But as a once in a while treat, beef isn’t just tasty, but it’s incredibly nutritious as well!

Beef is packed with vitamin B12. So, it can have a lot of health benefits for your dog. On top of that, beef is also filled with protein and a bunch of other nutrients that will promote good overall health in your dog. However, make sure to get parts of beef that aren’t too fatty, as too much fat and salt can be bad for your dog’s health.

If your dog doesn’t like raw meat, you can always cook the beef for them. When doing this, it’s best not to add any salt or oil in the process, as you want to keep the beef as natural as possible.

You can even cook large batches of beef and store them for a couple of weeks, giving your dog a little bit at a time.

Fish

Another great source of vitamin B12 for dogs is fish! Now, when it comes to feeding your dog fish, take note that not all dogs like the meat, and it’s important to respect your dog’s tastes. On top of that, it’s best to stick to fish like tuna, salmon, white cod, and flounder. It’s also best to choose fish that don’t have too many bones to reduce the risk of choking hazards.

Conclusion

So, those are just a few of the natural treats out there that are packed with vitamin B12. This vitamin is essential to your dog’s health, so if you’re putting them on a natural diet, make sure their food and treats give them ample amounts of vitamin B12.

The great thing about these treats is that they contain a bunch of other nutrients aside from vitamin B12. So, regardless of which option you choose from this list, rest assured that you’re giving your dog a healthy and nutritious snack!
